We are seeking a qualified Sonographer - Ultrasound to join Ochsner LSU Health. This role involves performing advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists, adhering to safety protocols, and serving as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures independently following established protocols.
- Assist radiologists in guided procedures across various settings.
- Review and ensure the quality of imaging before transmission.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and perform quality control procedures.
- Manage departmental operations such as inventory and equipment maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and respecting their privacy.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (within 1 year of hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- 2 years of sonographer experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in computer applications and software.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of abdominal anatomy and pathology.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
This role involves medium physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially hazardous environments.
